LEATHER CLEANING AND CARE
Leather is timeless, and a quality leather bag and boots can last a lifetime. Leather ages gracefully and can even increase in beauty. You should be able to enjoy your fine Leora Leather bag and boots for years to come by following a few simple guidelines.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF MY BAG AND BOOTS GETS WET?
Just let the item air dry naturally, don’t use direct heat as this can burn the leather. Don’t blow-dry leather, or put it on a radiator. Once it is dry, you can treat it with a special conditioner or spray if needed, to restore luster and flexibility. If the item is suede, you may gently brush it with a terry-cloth towel or natural haired brush.
HOW SHOULD I STORE MY LEATHER ITEM?
A leather bag and boots should be stored in a moderate environment (not overly humid, and not overly dry). It should be stored out of direct sunlight as the sun may discolor the item over time. Do not store in plastic bags as this can dry out the leather and create mold, the use of breathable bags are recommended for long-term storage.
HOW CAN I REPAIR MINOR TEARS?
I offer a lifetime warranty, so ship it back and I will fix it for free. If however, thread frays or comes undone (burn the end of thread with a lighter to seal in the stitch) this can be done at home.
SHOULD I USE LEATHER CONDITIONERS AND SPRAYS?
A good leather conditioner contains fats and oils that will help moisturize the leather, keep it soft and can help restore its shine. Natural products and oils are usually best and can be found at most quality leather goods stores and shoe stores. Leather only needs to be conditioned occasionally, I recommend a seasonal application.
HOW DO I CLEAN A DIRTY LEATHER BAG AND BOOTS?
I recommend taking your leather bag if in bad shape to a professional cleaner with experience in leather. Essential oils are removed during the cleaning process and can only be restored by professional leather cleaners. If you are using an at home leather cleaner or other solution to take out stains, always test the solution first on an inconspicuous part of the bag or boots. Light colors may be difficult to clean and should be taken to a professional.
